The hotel is perfectly situated for relaxing, exploring, meeting, and learning. The food is great. Our hosts, Darrin and Cheri Jones utilize their wide circle of friends and acquaintances to offer such opportunities as visits to local farmers and cheesemakers, lessons in regional cooking (including how to make the biggest tortillas in Mexico!), trip suggestions to colonial churches and rock art sites. And if you’re in a less energetic mood, there are delicious hot springs within reach. Beautiful scenery, fine food, friendly people – the Rio Sonora Valley has ’em all. We’ve gone several times, and always come home refreshed, well-fed, enthusiastic, and ready for more!

What Others Are Saying

La Posada del Rio Sonora is a lovely place to stay – beautifully appointed, full of interesting antiques from around the world, comfortable rooms, and delicious food typical of the area. All this plus very interesting guests and great hosts who go out of their way to ensure your comfort. Just opposite the plaza and the church. What more could you want?
