My husband and I spent Valentine’s weekend with family at this charming hotel in Banamichi. Darrin and Cheri, the hotel’s owners, couldn’t have been more gracious. Darrin is very knowledgeable about the area and it’s people, and their shared commitment to preserving its environment is commendable. Their staff, especially Carmen, Patti and Susanna, were so attentive and genuinely wanted us to feel at home. The food was excellent, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the sunsets on the terrace amazing! If you want to relax and experience a simpler way of life, escape to this beautiful, safe jewel in Sonora where time seems to stand still. We will be back!

Reviewed 2 days ago NEWVisited Banamichi with family and friends to visit an ancestral homesite. Twelve of us descended on La Posada del Rio Sonora. Darrin, Cheri and their staff were gracious and accommodating to our every need. Food was fresh and wonderfully prepared–we especially liked the chiltepin salsa served with our meals. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We were fortunate to have good weather and the courtyard and upstairs patio were pleasant and inviting, whether for quiet reading, beautiful sunsets or evening conversations and music, with a little Bacanora. Those who weren’t able to come are envious and we will certainly plan to return again.
