The recent events across the border in Agua Prieta will no doubt be well publicized by the mainstream media employing the usual scare tactics to drive the news cycle. As a resident of Mexico and Gringo myself, I just want to assure all my fellow travel enthusiasts that Mexico is still beautiful, still welcoming, and still safe…..just as long as you are not a drug cartel member.

What Others Are Saying

The hotel is perfectly situated for relaxing, exploring, meeting, and learning. The food is great. Our hosts, Darrin and Cheri Jones utilize their wide circle of friends and acquaintances to offer such opportunities as visits to local farmers and cheesemakers, lessons in regional cooking (including how to make the biggest tortillas in Mexico!), trip suggestions to colonial churches and rock art sites. And if you’re in a less energetic mood, there are delicious hot springs within reach. Beautiful scenery, fine food, friendly people – the Rio Sonora Valley has ’em all. We’ve gone several times, and always come home refreshed, well-fed, enthusiastic, and ready for more!
