The restoration of La Posada del Rio Sonora began in 2001 and was completed in 2006. The original building is more than 200 years old and is directly located on the central plaza. And was purchased in 2010 by

Darrin and Cheri Jones of Alabama.

The Hotel was built for the socially and environmentally conscious guest using local materials and built by local tradesmen. La Posada del Rio Sonora greatly contributes to the local economy and donates a percentage of its time and profits to community-based non profit organizations.

  (2) suites with one queen bed and living room with fireplace.
  (1) suite with one queen bed, and Jacuzzi tub
  (1) two bedroom suite with one queen and two twins
  (2) apartments with kitchen, one queen


Each room has a private bathroom, fans, air conditioning, and heating

Each room has a unique decor with locally made and imported beds, rugs, lamps and art giving each room a character.
